AOWD - Advanced Open Water Diver

Age limit
15-127 years

Minimum requirements
* 10 dives in open water, of which 5 dives in the range of 15-20 meters
* completed and confirmed Logbook
* OWD certification or equivalent
* good health (completed health questionnaire before the start of the course)
* for teenagers, the consent of a parent or legal guardian


Certification after the course
* globally recognized certification for open water diving to a basic depth of a maximum of 30 meters

Maximum diving depth
* 30 meters

Diving with at least one diving partner - "buddy".
"Buddy" is the worldwide name for a diving partner

Mandatory diving equipment for the course
* diving ABCD - mask, snorkel, fins, neoprene boots
* diving equipment that corresponds to the conditions where the training will take place - swimsuit, wetsuit, hood, gloves
* diving device, i.e. regulator - I. stage and 2x II. stages - primary II. stage with a hose length of 210 cm and secondary II. stage attached on the rubber under the chin, inflator hose, manometer, buoyancy control device (BCD), integrated weight system and tank filled with air or nitrox (up to 40% oxygen content)
* diving computer
* cutting tool
* reel buoy
* underwater compass
* diving flashlight
* wetnotes or writing board


Course length
* weekly cycle with a time distribution - even for several weeks - according to the current situation and the possibilities of the course participants


Lecturer support
* diving Instructor + Supervisor, i.e. Divemaster or Assistant Instructor or Assistant Divemaster
* the course is led by experienced diving instructors who focus on clear and safe training

The AOWD course is one of the specialized courses within our training system
Completion of the AOWD course is a prerequisite for participation in other diving courses from the portfolio of technical, medical, meditation, but also children's courses offered by DES.
In our AOWD course manual you will find all the necessary information for diving and also everything related to scuba diving for advanced divers.
All topics have a logical sequence, so that your learning is easy to remember and understand.

Course and training parameters
* introductory briefing, positive motivation, energization of the organism
* introduction to the basic points and limits of the lesson and course
* positive relaxation, preparation for practical exercises
* during each dive in open water we perform basic safety checks and check the functionality of the equipment - check for bubble leakage, check for attachment of the tank to the buoyancy control device, check buoyancy control device (BCD), check for flooding, mask check
* repetition of skills acquired from the OWD course
* out of Air (OOA) situation training - "I have no air" in advanced mode, i.e. rising from a depth of 30 m with a buddy one device, including a safety decompression stop at 6 m for 3 min.
* improving underwater movement, working with the trim
* advanced dive planning with regard to decompression issues
* training of dives to a depth of 30 m with a planned safety decompression stop at 6 m for 3 min in open water
* training of ascent speed 9 m/ min.
* underwater navigation training with the help of natural references and a compass
* training in working in a buddy team in poor visibility
* night dive and underwater communication specifications using a flashlight
* practice of work with a decompression buoy in open water
* practice disconnecting and reconnecting the inflator hose of BCD and dry suit
* practice of manual re-inflating of BCD by mouth on the surface and below the surface
* training to help a tired diver - towing on the water surface at least 50 m
* swimming on the water surface with full equipment at least 100 m
* final debriefing and entry of the dive into the logbook


Certification
* upon successful completion of the course, you will receive an internationally valid
diving certification of the AOWD - Advanced Open Water Diver


AOWD certification entitles you to
* dive in open water in the depth of 30 meters
* with a Divemaster or with an Instructor even in deeper depths
